Our Leadership

Founder and Principal Consultant

Monica Guient is an inspirational speaker, thought leader, and dynamic change agent. Currently, she leads Louisiana State University College of Agriculture and AgCenter’s diversity and inclusion efforts as assistant vice president of diversity, inclusion, and opportunity. As the architect of the diversity and inclusion strategic plan, she oversees the state’s ongoing diversity and inclusion initiatives within Agriculture’s research, teaching, and extension.

In her previous role with Binghamton University, she served as the Assistant Dean of Academic Diversity and Inclusive Excellence for the Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science. Guient was responsible for the College’s diversity programs and initiatives and served as the Co-Principal Investigator on several NSF and federal grants serving local middle schools, high school, undergraduate, and graduate STEM students. She was instrumental in the increase of external funding to fund diversity initiatives and the College’s recognition as a national leader in diversity. Guient started her career at the Xavier University of Louisiana where she mentored and advised students within the Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program. Things came full circle, as she was a participant in the same program.

Guient is currently a doctoral candidate at Louisiana State University, holds a master’s degree in Sociology from the University of New Orleans, and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Xavier University of Louisiana, an HBCU. She is currently completing Cornell University’s Diversity Certificate program and is an NCBI Facilitator. As a firm believer in the power and value of diversity, Monica also serves as a consultant and speaker for small to mid-sized organizations hoping to foster diversity within their organization.
